Travel and Tourism Assignment – Favorite Holiday

My favorite place that I have been to on holiday was Egypt. I find Egypt as a well cultured and fantastic country with loads of significant information to learn from. What I specifically love about Egypt is the ancient history and stories that are out in the world such as, a pharaoh or king in Egypt wore a bull’s tail to show how strong he was, men and woman at the court of the king in Egypt wore elegant make-up, especially around the eyes. To keep cool at parties in Ancient Egypt guest’s wore cones of perfumed animal fat on their heads, as the fat melted cooling perfume trickled over their skin. Also, In Ancient Egypt, there were rules about battles. Rival kings agreed on the time and place, and battles were never fought at night. At the battle of Kadesh, Ramesses had about 20,000 soldiers – an excessively big army for the time.

I also loved the trip to the desert which we took on the quad bikes and seeing how they live and make their food as we got there. The sand was warm, and the weather was just perfect. Their coffee was also incredibly good and the food well-seasoned and tasty. Bread was the most important and frequently eaten food. Wheat, barley, and corn were cultivated in the fertile fields near the river Nile. At night we also took part in their performance which contained dancing, walking on nails and broken glass and their jokes that were made.

While I was on holiday to Egypt, I also went on a cruise, where we sat down for lunch and coffee, watched a performance and took pictures with some awesome people that were dressed in pirates. The boat had transparent glass walls where I have seen thousands of species of fish and different kinds of corals which contained different awesome colors. I especially liked how clear everything was and how every detail of the fish stood out to my eye.

Another thing I admired so much was the way Egyptians made paper which later was turned into artwork and sold. Papyrus is a material similar to thick paper that was used in ancient times as a writing surface. It was made from the pith of the papyrus plant, Cyperus papyrus, a wetland sedge. To make paper, Ancient Egyptians flattened and smashed stalks of the papyrus plant. The outer fibers are peeled away and the core of the stalk and sliced into very thin strips that are as broad as possible. Then they placed the stalks running up and down in one layer and side to side in the other, and that is how they created some incredible pictures which I have bought and placed on the walls.
